“I'd like to try an animal cafe, but I don't know what to do there.” This is one of the questions we hear most before a visit. Here is a simple way to use a 30-minute visit, based on how guests actually spend their time with us.

The first 5 minutes — sit, hands on your knees

The most common mistake is reaching out as soon as you arrive. If you sit still, the meerkats come over to check you out in their own time. Five minutes of sitting with your hands on your knees is usually the quickest way.

The next 15 minutes — watch, take photos, and touch only if they come to you

The important thing is not to close the distance a meerkat has chosen. Some are happy to come close; some are more relaxed watching from a little way off. Staff can tell you about each one, so please ask. This is also the best time for photos — see Photo tips.

The last 10 minutes — put the camera down

Try spending the end of your visit without your phone. Guests who film the whole time sometimes say afterwards that they can't remember the meerkats' faces. What you see with your own eyes stays with you.
