House Rules What to know before you come in — and why
Published 11 October 2026 / Meerkat Cafe googoo, Kichijoji, Tokyo
Our rules are there to keep both the meerkats and our guests safe. Staff explain them before your time starts; here they are in advance.
Before you go in
- Masks and accessories go in a locker. Meerkats may climb up as high as your head, so please take everything off before your time with them.
- No food, drink or small items brought in. This is to stop the meerkats swallowing anything by mistake.
During your time
- Snacks: ours only. Meerkat snacks are available at the cafe (550 yen, tax included) — please ask staff. Never give the meerkats any food you have brought.
- Photos and video are welcome, but no flash — it startles the meerkats.
- No live streaming, out of consideration for other guests.
- Holding a meerkat is only for guests who order an instant photo (cheki), while the photos are being taken — see Instant photo.
Good to know
- No age limit, but for safety, children of elementary-school age and younger must always be with an adult.
- Allergies: you will be in the same room as the meerkats and touching them directly, so please decide based on how you feel.
- The cafe is non-smoking.
- There is no parking; please use a nearby coin car park.
