Visiting googoo with Children The house rules for families
Published 3 October 2026 / Meerkat Cafe googoo, Kichijoji, Tokyo
Families are welcome at googoo. Because the meerkats move freely around the room, there are a few rules for children. They are taken from our booking page and our FAQ.
Age
There is no age limit. For safety, children of elementary school age and younger must always be accompanied by an adult.
If a child gets scared
This cafe is designed for interacting with animals, and the meerkats may come close at their own pace. If a child cannot follow the instructions of their guardian or staff, or becomes scared and cries, they may be asked to leave. Please talk about this as a family before you visit.
Anyone in your group who is uncomfortable interacting with animals or being approached by them will need to wait outside.
Before you start
- Masks and accessories go into a locker. The meerkats may climb as high as your head.
- No outside food, drinks or small items in the room, so the meerkats cannot swallow anything.
- Please arrive 5 minutes early. Staff explain the handling rules before your time starts.
- Once you have checked in and started, menu changes are not possible.
Booking for a family
On the English booking page, choose the number of adults and children separately. Each guest orders one drink (from 550 yen). Step-by-step help: How to book in English.
